Simplicius and Priscian were two of the seven Neoplatonists who left Athens when the Christian Emperor Justinian closed the paganschool there in A.

The commentaries ascribed to them on works on sense-perception, one by Aristotle and one by his succ.

It's good for giving the ancient mindset eg 'Because the whole human organism is, by good temperament, suitable for the reception of the soul that works through intelligence,' which is not too dissimilar to the presumption of any intellectual today who has the conceit of consciousness and they all do. If you have an unconscious dimension as we would, this endowment of a rational soul isn't too far out.
